Buddy Breakfast is Moving

by N8NZB 0 Comments

Effective immediately, the Saturday “Buddy Breakfast” is moving to Star Family Dining in Madison Heights. Jimi’s of Royal Oak, our long-time venue, has become the Royal Oak Taphouse. It no longer has the proper facilities or inexpensive menu to cater to our group.

The breakfast still starts around 9 AM. Star Family Dining is located at 26623 John R Rd, Madison Heights, one block south of 11 Mile Rd. It’s a white building with red roof and green metal trim on the southbound side of the street. The Star has a large parking lot, so worry no more about feeding the meter. The menu is large, featuring homestyle cooking.

To get there, take I-75 to 11 Mile, then go east to John R, then turn right. Or simply take surface roads to 11 Mile and John R.
Come join Hazel Park club members for breakfast, coffee and conversation at this new spot.

HPARC in the Park

On Saturday May 13th, HPARC will be having a “Lark in the Park”.  We’ll be setting up an outdoor radio event at Green Acres Park in Hazel Park, MI.  The “Lark” will begin around 12:00 Noon in shelter #2.  We have access to commercial power and restrooms as part of the shelter rental.  We have access to the shelter until 5:00 PM.

If you have a station you can bring out and set up, please feel free to do so.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Field Day 2017 is Only 2 Months Away

by N8NZB 0 Comments

Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.1

The Hazel Park Amateur Radio Club has participated in this annual event since 1967.  Come spend Field Day with us on June 24 & 25, 2017 at Scout Park, in Hazel Park, Michigan (just north of Detroit).

We’re ON THE AIR around the clock, 2PM Saturday to 2PM Sunday!

ALL Hams Welcome! No experience necessary! Come out and make some contacts!

Meet for breakfast: 8AM Saturday, June 24 at Jimi’s in Royal Oak.
Set up: 9AM June 24 at Scout Park, Hazel Park
