Election 2023 – Nominations

It’s that time of year again! We have begun to seek nominations for club officers. Members should have received an email from hparcelections at gmail dot com with instructions on how to nominate members for office, as well as the guidelines for nomination.

Just an FYI – we’ve relaxed the membership requirements for some of the offices. You can now nominate members with only 6 months of membership behind them for the positions of Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Director. The board approved this plan so that we can get some more participation from our newer members who might have some good ideas for our club.

If you did not receive the email, please check your spam filter, or send an email to hparcelections at gmail dot com. We look forward to hearing from the membership – remember, whoever you nominate will potentially be leading your club for the next year!

Davis Aerospace HS & ISS Contact Information

After a long time of planning, setup, testing, and coordination, we are finally ready for the contact between the students of the B. O. Davis Aerospace Technical High School in Detroit and the International Space Station.

The contact will happen on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at around 1:30 PM EDT, and it will be streamed LIVE via the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s YouTube channel. There will be some presentations and other informational content happening before then, so please feel free to load up that link a bit earlier than 1:30 PM on Tuesday if you would like.

Due to space and security concerns, we ask that you please not attempt to visit the school where the contact is taking place – you can instead use the YouTube streaming link provided above.

Lastly, the standard ISS FM voice downlink frequency will be used for this contact. Tune your VHF radio(s) to 145.800 MHz and see if you can catch the astronaut’s responses! (You won’t hear the student’s questions on this frequency – again, you can use the YouTube link if you want to hear both the questions and the answers.)

This has been a long time coming, and we are very excited!
